A Brief History

Born to a small tribe in a remote province of Ilsabard, the majority of V'khir’s life has been one of hardship and strife. Early in his life he was forced to watch as the Garlean empire would destroy his tribe, forcibly consigning him to live the life of a street urchin. He would live like this for some time before eventually being adopted by a traveling group of performers. For a few years he would travel with them, but they too would meet a grisly end at the hands of the empire. With both his families having been torn away from him, V'khir would devote the next several years of his life to a personal war against Garlemald. However, his campaign ended abruptly when his primary target, the officer who had ordered the deaths of his tribe, died before V'khir could exact revenge. With the death of his target and a chance encounter with the man's wife and daughter, the anger that had driven V'khir's personal war against the empire began to fade, and was instead replaced with a sense of serenity and freedom that he had not been afforded for many years. Now some years later, he lives the life of a nomadic adventurer roaming from place to place in search of excitement and new experiences.

Personality

Overall, V'khir is generally described by those he meets as energetic and friendly. He loves meeting and talking to new people and is more often than not quick to strike up conversation. However, this outgoing personality is tempered somewhat by a generally serious demeanor. He does have a softer side that’s truer to who he is, but due to his past it's something that he keeps repressed unless he's around people he is particularly close to.Because of both events in his past and his relatively solitary lifestyle, he also has a tendency to keep people at arms length. This in tandem with his constant wandering has made it difficult for him to form long standing relations, as he is never really around long for such connections to be made. This has led him to be relatively sheltered in terms of certain interpersonal relations, which might make him a bit awkward in some situations. His past is also a touchy subject, and unless he is heavily inebriated or you are close enough to him any probing will invariably cause him to shut down. It is something he has never quite come to terms with, and feels it better to just leave it behind. He is also overall very inquisitive and has a passion for learning new things. This inquisitiveness is in part what spurs his extensive travels. More specifically, he has particular affinities for archaeology, anthropology and biology. This has led to him keeping an extensive journal detailing many of the species, peoples, and cultures he has encountered on his travels, with the ultimate goal being to create a sort of general compendium for life on the star.

OOC

Heya, thanks for checking out the carrd! My name's Khireth, but my friends call me Khir. Just some final general rules and boundaries to read through before you go.

General Rules

1.- I'm generally fine with any sort of rp whether it be long, short, happy, sad, soft, or mature. However, I do ask that that you tell me beforehand if ever you are interested, and a no to anything is final unless explicitly stated otherwise.2 - Must be 21+ at bare minimum to rp. Not at all interested in underage people.3 - IC ≠ OOC. Things such as opinions, attitudes, beliefs, or other such things are not necessarily a reflection of the ones I hold personally. Likewise, any relationships or friendships with my characters do not reflect actual relationships with me. I'm happy to be your friend, but it will not be so just because we are IC.

Well, with that out of the way thank you again for reading! Feel free to approach or engage me if you want. Though a bit of forewarning, I can be awkward and shy so apologies if I come off that way initially.Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Extended Backstory

"So that's what you want to know is it? Well pull up a chair friend, we'll be here a while..."

V’khir Mar began his life in a remote province on the western coast of Ilsabard. The tribe he was born into was small, formed when his father and several other like-minded Miqo’te, tired of Garlean customs and oppression, migrated to a place where the empire’s grip was weaker. It was 4 years into this endeavor that V’khir was born. As the first male to be born of the tribe, his arrival was a most celebrated affair and viewed as a sign of good fortune for the tribe. And for several years that was the case, with the tribe allowed to grow and flourish outside the empire’s purview; however, there would come a time when fortune would run its course. The appointed day would eventually arrive in the summer of V’khir’s seventh year when the Empire came to call. With a noise like thunder, they descended upon the village, machines, and men clad in steel. Like demons they tore through the village, putting those who resisted to the sword and detaining the rest. Hidden by his mother in their cellar, V'khir could do nothing but cower in fear as he listened to the brutal display unfold above him. It was not until long after the noises had ceased did he worked up the courage to exit the safety of his hiding place, but what he saw would haunt his dreams for years. In the center of the village was a pile of bodies, blood staining the ground below, within which he could just make out the pale face of his mother, twisted with pain. With his tribe now dead or captured, V'khir spent several days wandering in a daze before being found by a merchant caravan and brought to a nearby city. There he would live as a street orphan for several years, until fortune smiled upon him and he was taken in by a group of traveling performers after he was caught trying to steal food from one of their shows. Over the next two years, he would travel with them across the star from Limsa Lominsa to Kugane, growing especially close to the group's dancer N'mar. However, one day while on a routine stop for supplies in a Garlean port city, the troupe would be caught up in a riot between disgruntled citizens and imperial soldiers. Several members of the troupe were killed, including N'mar, who would die in V'khir's arms. With another family yet again destroyed by Garlemald, V'khir, consumed by rage and grief, would devote the next several years of his life to waging a personal war against the empire. It would be during this period that he would cross paths with an old wandering soldier, another kindred soul left broken and angry in Garlemald's wake. Upon seeing the latent rage that drove V'khir forward, the man made an offer to help him channel that anger into newfound power and act as a weapon of vengeance against the empire. Unfortunately, their relationship would quickly become unstable. The training V'khir was put through was harsh, the methods of his mentor almost as abusive as the man himself, with every failure punished severely. Eventually, the animosity between the two grew too large to be ignored, and the student and mentor would come to blows, but the man had forged something beyond what he had intended. Emerging victorious, V'khir would leave the bloody form of his former mentor to an unknown fate as he resumed his personal war.As the years dragged on V'khir would find himself bouncing around Ilsabard, fighting wherever he could to make the empire bleed. One day, during a raid on a military facility, he would find information on the operation that had destroyed his tribe all those years ago, as well as the officer responsible. Now armed with a name and a soul set ablaze with newfound rage, V'khir would abandon all other plans as he began the long trek toward his target. Alas, upon arriving at the location of his target he learned much to his shock that the man had died of illness shortly before his arrival. With the ultimate target of his rage now beyond his reach, the flames of anger that had longed filled V'khir's heart began to dim. Now left with nowhere to go, he paid a visit to the man's grave, where he would have a chance encounter with their wife and daughter. Initially enraged that such a monster would be allowed to find such happiness where he was denied, V'khir considered cutting them down where they stood, yet something stayed his hand. A new emotion now mingled with the anger, an overwhelming sense of sadness that poured over him, choking out the vengeful thoughts. And so with the last of his rage dissipating, V'khir would choose to abandon his vendetta against the empire, instead devoting himself to trying to mend his own fractured life.
